Best Boston Red Sox Betting Predictions
The Boston Red Sox enter the 2020 season after missing the playoffs the year before, an unfamiliar position in recent times. The team finished 3rd in the American League East, topped by both the Yankees and Rays, holding a record of 84-78. This was the first time the Red Sox didn’t win their division since 2015. The team is easily one of the highest-paid franchises with over $240 million dished out in 2019 alone.
After a disappointing season, based on team standards, the Red Sox are expected to come out hungry to get back on top. There is no shortage of talent with Mookie Betts, J.D. Martinez, and Chris Sale all locked in for next year. Much will be decided by off-season acquisitions and the strength of other top teams in their division, such as the Yankees.

History of Boston Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox was established all the way back in 1901 and has since become one of the most storied franchises. With nine World Series Championships, the team has won the third-most of any MLB team. Their most recent appearance in the World Series was just last year in 2018. Currently, the team plays in the American League East Division alongside the New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays, Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles. Their home ground is Fenway Park, the oldest of all current major league ballparks.
While the team has been very successful over the years, they had one of the longest championship droughts in baseball history. Dubbed the ‘Curse of the Bambino,’ the Red Sox were unable to win a championship from 1918 to 2004. The dry spell was thought to be a curse created by the trade of legendary Hall of Famer Babe Ruth.
As mentioned above, the Boston Red Sox was established in 1901 as one of the first teams in the new American League. The team played their home games at Huntington Avenue Grounds and was unofficially known as the Boston Americans at the time. It wasn’t until 1908 that the team changed its name to the ‘Red Sox’ or ‘Bosox’.
The Red Sox have won nine World Series Championships, the latest of which is 2018. The team has been very successful in the early years of the league, taking home the championship 5 times in the first 17 years.
After a massive 86 year drought, the Red Sox were able to break the curse and win the World Series again in 2004. The victory created a new era as the Red Sox went on to win three more times in 2007, 2013, and 2018.
With over a hundred years of history, the Red Sox have produced a number of legendary players. Some of the most notable names include:
- Cy Young – Hall of Famer known for holding the record for most MLB wins at 511. Young was instrumental in helping the Red Sox win the 1903 World Series.
- Babe Ruth – Arguably the most famous player of all-time, Ruth holds many batting records including career home runs at 714.
- David Ortiz – Ortiz is one of the most beloved Red Sox players, leading the team in breaking the 86 year old curse with a win in 2004.
