The Cardinals will have strong runs when they cover MLB spreads at a steady pace. That’s why your St. Louis Cardinals betting strategy is so important. You need to follow those runs and know when to bet on the Cards and when to go against them.

The competition is pretty stiff in the NL Central. The Cubs, Brewers, and Reds will all want to oust the Cardinals. However, our St. Louis Cardinals betting prediction sees another good season for the reigning champs. The Cards should be around 90 wins in 2020.

History of St. Louis Cardinals

The St. Louis Cardinals were found in 1882 as the St. Louis Brown Stockings. In 1900, the team was renamed to St. Louis Cardinals. In 138 seasons, the Cards have won 23 pennants and 11 World Series in 29 playoff appearances.

The Cardinals are one of the oldest and most successful teams in Major League Baseball. Only the New York Yankees have won more World Series than the Cardinals. That’s what makes the St. Louis Cardinals betting even more exciting.

Since 2000, the Cards have had only one losing season. They’ve made it to the playoffs 13 times in that span, mostly under Tony La Russa who’s the winningest coach in the Cards’ history. La Russa led the Cardinals to a couple of World Series Championships in 2006 and 2011.

Club Creation

Established as the St. Louis Brown Stockings in 1882, they played as the St. Louis Browns from 1883 to 1898. Only in 1899, they played as St. Louis Perfectos, while the team’s current name stands since 1900. The Cards are members of the National League since 1892.

Best Results

The first of the Cardinals’ 11 World Series Championships came in 1926. From 1931 to 1946, the Cards won five World Series. A couple of more came in the ’60s, while the Cards won the 1982 World Series under Whitey Herzog.

With Tony La Russa at the helm, the Cardinals became one of the most dominant teams in this century. Since 2000, the Cards have won ten Central Division titles and two World Series while reaching the postseason 13 times.

Famous Players

There were a lot of legendary players in the Cardinals uniform over the years. It’s impossible to say who was the best. It’s even tough to pick up the best three. However, one name stands out from the crowd.

Stan Musial played 22 years with the Cardinals, and he wasn’t an All-Star only in his rookie season in 1941. Stan the Man won three World Series in 1942, 1944, and 1946, and he was a three-time MVP. He’s one of the best outfielders of all time and a seven-time batting champion.

Bob Gibson is arguably the most famous Cardinals’ pitcher. Gibson won two World Series Championships in 1964 and 1967 and was the World Series MVP on both occasions. He’s a nine-time All-Star and a two-time Cy Young Award winner.
